Vanity Check…

Okay, so this post is dedicated to those people who are constantly complaining about how they look, how they wish they were taller, which their boobs were bigger, wish their hair was straighter or wah wah wah… Sometimes you just have to be happy that your healthy and that you have a face, because some people don’t. The images below are of three individuals whose faces have been disfigured. Mr. Dallas Weins came in contact with a high voltage line while working, his face was completely burned off except for his chin. Ms. Connie Culp was shot in the face with a shotgun by her husband.  Katie Piper, whose story you should read, was disfigured when her deranged boyfriend hired a young man to splash acid in her face in broad daylight. (Sidenote, if a man tells you he loves you on the second date, he’s probably obsessed and potentially dangerous)

It is an amazing medicinal feat to successfully complete a face transplant, there have only been a handful of successful face transplants ever. The difficulty lies in the nerve damage that may have occurred and the actual restoring of sensation in the face. If you watch the videos telling the story of these survivors, emphasis is placed on the donors whose faces are actually lifted from their own body and placed on that of the victims. These survivors are more than just the topic of graphic pictures, they have families, children even… who have to live with the fact that they will never see the face of their loved ones again. So be grateful for how you look, it can always be worse.
