The Mission

The statement “People Not Things” is a worldcentric ethos that directly challenges the profit over people ideology. The phrase calls attention to institutions that seek to exploit human beings & the environment. The art of PNT examines tools of division, challenges our notion of freedom and invites our audience to explore their own role in perpetuating division & dehumanization. We seek to liberate all humans from the confines of racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic policy & practices at an institutional & individual level. We believe in racial justice, economic justice, revolutionary love, environmental & human rights. Most importantly, we advocate for absolute freedom of information and self-expression. We denounce the “othering” of any person or group of people as “things” to be exploited and feared. We proclaim that all of our siblings are multi-faceted & complex humans worthy of dignity.

The Method

“My signature style is called “Barrier Strokes”. You see them in every painting either dominating the piece or small in the corner like a signature. I paint barriers because we often don’t see how we ourselves create barriers between ourselves and other humans. Be it bigotry, self isolation, the “isms”, sharing news rooted in false info and fear mongering. I make the barriers visible to my audience as this is the first step in taking accountability for how we individually perpetuate division and harm our fellow humans in the process. We all do it subconsciously or consciously, I realized that I was doing it as well. That’s why I paint barriers to help me remember and to remain self-aware. I don’t seek leadership outside of myself, if we want the World to change we all have to step up our individual efforts to change ourselves”
